Malaysia Airlines: check-in

Malaysia Airlines is a carrier widely known for its reward-winning service, the immense beauty of its air hostesses and a colourful livery of some of its planes.
In today's post we will take a look at the check-in options that this airline offers.
Malaysia Airlines check-in online
Self-service is the way to go if you appreciate convenience and want to say goodbye to airport queues. When using the web check-in, what you need is e-ticket number, passenger name & flight details. Once logged in, select your seat and print your boarding card. You can check in up to 9 travellers. This option is available from 48 hours up to 90 minutes prior to departure.
Online check-in is applicable to all flights except for flights from Airport Los Angeles, Xiamen, Brunei, Kunming as well as the following routes: Kuala Lumpur -Los Angeles and Taipei – Los Angeles.
What is next? If you are travelling without check-in baggage on a domestic route, simply go straight to the boarding gate. When travelling abroad, proceed to the self check-in service counter with your travel documents at the latest 60 minutes prior to departure. If you carry check-in baggage, go to the bag drop counter or check-in counter at the latest 60 minutes prior to departure. Do not forget to bring your boarding card!
Malaysia Airlines airport check-in
If you chose to take advantage of counter check-in, remember to arrive at the airport with your travel documents before the deadline. Malaysia Airlines suggest you show up 2 hours prior to departure for international flights and 1 hour prior to departure for domestic flights.

Have been trying to check in online for the last 48 hours. Tried several times but did not work at all. Very disappointing and waste of time. There has been no response from Airlines office. Please, passengers already do not have much trust in your airlines, so you need to improve.

MAS emailed me: "Your flight is ready for check-in"
When I tried to check in, the website says: "Departure Flight Status is Invalid for Check-In. Please contact Malaysia Airlines call center or check-in at the airport. [BR1110]"

thank goodness there is now someone who knows how to run an airline business. Trying to check in using the on-line system is a nightmare. That system does not work, just like all the white collar management!

Your call centre is very unfriendly and non cooperative. One has to wait a long time and kept on hold, without any help. We had a bad experience while rescheduling the flight of my wife and faced a lot of hassles. Unreasonable attitude. Airline should take care and improve the system and staff, otherwise customer will think of alternatives.

I had a really bad experience with Malaysia Airlines call center service. The online check in was still not ready even it falls within 48 hours, and two customer service officer passed me around for more than half an hour without telling me the problem. Finally after almost 45 minutes a guy told me due to load issue the flight is not ready for online check in.
I NEVER had any issue with other airlines since I started flying 13 years ago... MH really have to buck up.
Will try to avoid MH next time.

Hi Chris,
The rates for excess baggage vary depending on the route. On international routes it's 1.5% of the highest normal direct one-way flight per kg.

Hi Muhamad,
We are sorry to hear about your bad experiences. Did you talk to the customer service? What was their reaction? I assume they should show some interest, should they not?

THE SYSTEM IS VERY MESSY, I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO ENTER MY DEPARTURE AIRPORT AS MIRI AND AFTER TAKING IT FROM THE SELECTION LIST IT DOES NOT WORK!
MOREOVER MY ENRICH CARD IS SAID TO BE INVALID. I HAVE BEEN AN ENRICH SILVER CARD HOLDER FOR SEVERAL YEARS.
IN GENERAL THE SYSTEM IS UNFRIENDLY AND IN COMPARISON WITH AIR ASIA'S SYSTEM IS A LOSER!
