Back to news

Fotolia_44261036_XS.jpg

In our series offering you the summary of the baggage policies of various carriers we go to the Far East.

Today we will take a look at the baggage policy of the founding member of Oneworld Alliance and the flag carrier of Hong Kong – Cathay Pacific Airways.

Cathay Pacific: carry-on baggage

It is as simple as it gets: when flying in Economy, you are allowed to bring one item of cabin baggage not exceeding 56×36×23cm (or 22×14×9 in) including wheels, handles and side pockets and weighing up to 7kg (or 15lbs).

Apart from the above-mentioned, you may carry onto the plane one of the following items: a briefcase, a small handbag, a small backpack or a laptop bag.

Travellers requiring assistive devices may carry onboard such items free of charge (no limitations as far as US flights are concerned. Otherwise one device & two pieces of mobility aids)

The free baggage allowance differs depending on the route with flights to Americas belonging to a separate category.

route number of items weight & size
Central, North and South Americas 2 23kg/50lb
Other routes no restrictions 20kg/44lb

I am sorry but I am not clear on this, does that mean 30Kg checked in luggage,, and how much weight is the had luggage. Any clarification of this would really help me, its doing my head in.

    Hello,
I would recommend to check the updated baggage policy at Cathay's website - http://www.cathaypacific.com/…lowance.html

If you have any doubts don't hesitate to contact airline's support directly they will help you to manage everything.

To follow on from my last emaiil, I do not need to be on your frequent flyer scheme now.
So you can remove my name and address from your system if you like. Thanks.
I do not know if your airline flies mail in to Hong Kong but if you do find any post going to
my old frequent flyer address, I am not there!
It can be forwarded to the address in England which I have given you or I could come up to
your london office to collect it.
I should like to read it but unfortunately cannot stop people here from writing to me, as they might think that I am in Hong Kong.
I do hope to visit Hong Kong again but it is difficult to do so at present.
Thank you for any assistance that you can give on this.

Hello. I am hoping to recover my amber earrings which I left on an aeroplane when flying from Hong Kong to London. I cannot be certain that it was on the Cathay Pacific flight as I did fly with different airlines. However I flew very frequently with your airline.
On that subject I joined your frequent flyer scheme but as I am not currently resident in Hong Kong, I do not need to be on the scheme.
For the moment, you can contact me by email - sandraball64@hotmail. co.uk or by post to Miss Sandra Ball c/o 3 Holly Court, North Street, Storrington, West Sussex RH20 4PE
England. I can travel to London to collect them if you think you have them.
You would know if they are mine by the seat number.
I left the small amber earrings in the pouch on the seat in front of me.
The earrings have silver fixings and are for pierced ears.
    Thank you for your assistance.
    From Sandra Ball
